Composition of Zifi 200 Tablet
Zifi 200 Tablet contains Cefixime as an active ingredient. Cefixime is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, which means that it is active against a wide variety of bacteria. This drug is not recommended for use in case of common cold, flu or viral infections since it is active against the infections caused by certain bacterial species only.

Zifi 200 Tablet Uses
Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)
Zifi 200 tablet is prescribed to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs) which are caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E.coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Enterococci.
Zifi 200 tablet is used to treat meningitis, which is an inflammation of the protective membranes that surround the brain, caused by Neisseria meningitidis and Streptococcus pneumoniae.
Otitis Media (Ear Infection)
Zifi 200 tablet is used to treat otitis media (Ear Infection) caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
Zifi 200 tablet is used in the treatment of septicemia which is an infection of the blood caused by Staphylococci and Streptococcus pyogenes.
Zifi 200 tablet is prescribed to treat Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis which are caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae.
Zifi 200 tablet is used in the treatment of gonococcal infection which is a sexually transmitted bacterial infection caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
Zifi 200 tablet is used in the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia which is a common type of lung infection caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Haemophilus influenzae.
Skin and Structure Infection
Zifi 200 tablet is used in the treatment of Skin and structure infection like cellulitis, wound infection and cutaneous abscess caused by Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus.
Bone and joint infections
Zifi 200 tablet is used in the treatment of bone and joint infections like septic arthritis and osteomyelitis caused by Staphylococci and Streptococci species.

Zifi 200 Tablet works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis.
Side effects of Zifi 200 Tablet
In addition to its intended benefits, Zifi 200 Tablet may cause some unwanted side effects too. In such cases, you must seek medical attention immediately. Please inform your physician if you experience any adverse reaction to the medication.

- Sore Throat
- Abdominal Pain
- Black or tarry stools
- Chest Pain
- Change in taste

- Swelling of face, lips, eyelids, tongue, hands, and feet
Contraindications of Zifi 200 Tablet
Avoid taking Zifi 200 Tablet or any other Beta-lactam antibiotics like cephalosporins and penicillins if the patient has a known allergy to it.
Zifi 200 Tablet is contraindicated if Lidocaine is used as a solvent for intravenous injection. Lidocaine can be used as a solvent for Intramuscular injection excluding contraindications.

- Before taking Zifi 200 Tablet, it is important to make sure that the person is not allergic to the contents of the tablet and does not suffer from severe liver problem, kidney disease or jaundice.
- It is important to tell the doctor about the previous medication taken before going ahead with Zifi 200 Tablet.
- Zifi 200 Tablet can make birth control pills less effective. So one should make sure to discuss this with the doctor.
- Take this medicine only on doctor’s prescription
- While taking Zifi 200 Tablet do not consume alcohol
- Seek emergency medical help or consult a physician immediately In case of overdosage
- This drug may make you dizzy and drowsy so avoid any task that requires mental alertness, including driving and operating machinery
- Before taking this drug, inform your doctor if you have liver problems or intestinal/stomach related problems
This drug is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary and the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Consult your physician before using this medicine.
This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. Consult your physician before taking this medication.
Zifi 200 tablet Dosage
Usual Adult Dose for Urinary Tract Infection
Uncomplicated infections: 200 mg orally every 12 hours
Usual Adult Dose for Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis
200 mg orally every 12 hours
Usual Adult Dose for an ear infection (Otitis Media)
Oral suspension, chewable tablets: 400 mg orally once a day or 200 mg orally every 12 hours
Usual Adult Dose for Bronchitis
Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis: 400 mg orally once a day or 200 mg orally every 12 hours
Usual Adult Dose for Gonococcal Infection – Uncomplicated
Uncomplicated cervical/urethral infections: 200 mg orally as a single dose
Zifi 200 Tablet – Drug Interactions
If you use other over the counter products or other drugs at the same time, the effects of the Zifi 200 Tablet may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your physician about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that your physician can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Zifi 200 Tablet may interact with the following medicines and products:
Interaction with Disease
Avoid taking this medicine if it leads to severe diarrhea, abdominal pain or blood in stools. Inform the physician if you have any gastrointestinal diseases. Drink adequate amount of water to prevent dehydration.
Interaction with Alcohol
Interaction with alcohol is unknown. It is advisable to consult your physician before consumption.
Interaction with Medicine
The desired effect of contraceptive pills will not be achieved if these medicines are taken together. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement of the medicine should be made under the physician’s supervision.
Avoid cholera vaccine if the patient has taken Zifi 200 Tablet within 14 days before vaccination. Usage of other antibiotics and vaccines should be reported to the physician.
