What is Pan D Capsule?
Pan D Capsule is a proton-pump inhibitor medicine generally prescribed for treating acidity, heartburn, gastric ulcer, Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastrin-secreting tumor, intestinal ulcer, esophageal mucosal injury, benign gastric ulcer, benign duodenal ulcer, esophagus inflammation, stomach ulcers, and other gastric-related issues.

Pan D Capsule – Composition and Active Ingredients
Pan D Capsule is composed of the following active ingredients:
- Pantoprazole Sodium – 40 MG
- Domperidone – 30 MG
Manufactured by – Alkem Laboratories Ltd
Prescription – Available as an OTC (over the counter) medicine. But it is advised to use when your doctor prescribes.

Pan D Capsule is beneficial to treat a variety of acidity related issues as mentioned below.
Gastric Ulcer/ Peptic ulcer
Pan D Capsule is effective in treating peptic ulcers which develops on the lining of the stomach, esophagus, and small intestine.
Pan D Capsule is very beneficial in Gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Esophageal Mucosal Injury
Esophageal Mucosal Injury is an injury caused by GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease), which leads to an increase in gastric juice in the esophagus (food pipe or gullet). However, it can be treated with Pan D.
Gastrinoma/ Gastrin-secreting Tumor
Pan D Capsule helps to cure Gastrinomas at their early stage and does save you from hazards of cancer.
Helicobacter pylori Infection
Pan D Capsule is very useful in treating Helicobacter pylori infection. Helicobacter pylori spiral shape bacteria that grow in the digestive tract and can cause infection to the inner lining of the stomach.
Pan D Capsule is used to treat Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome, a condition where an excessive amount of acid is produced in the stomach due to tumors in the small intestines.
How Pan D Capsule works?
Pan D Capsule works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach and intestines which helps in relief of acid-related indigestion and heartburn.
Pantoprazole in this medicine is a proton pump inhibitor. It works on the inner lining cells of the stomach to inhibit acid production.
Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist and helps to move the food from stomach to intestine, stops the backward flow of the food from the stomach thus helps to reduce nausea and vomiting sensation.
Side Effects of Pan D Capsule
When a medicine is used to cure some kind of health problems, along with the intended benefits there are chances of getting a few unwanted side effects too.
If side effects don’t disappear in a short period, then it is strongly recommended to consult your Doctor for proper medical attention. You Doctor would make changes in your medication, and dosage accordingly. Below mentioned are some possible side effects of this medicine.
- Dry mouth
- Muscle pains
- Blurred vision
- Tenderness of Breast
- Increased bone fracture
- Irregular Menstruation
Contraindications for Pan D Capsule
Pan D Capsule is not prescribed for use in patients who have a known history of the following conditions
- Allergy to Pan D Capsule and its ingredients
- Blockage in intestine
- Patients with electrolyte disturbance especially Magnesium, potassium and calcium
- Patients with severe kidney and liver disease
- Congestive heart failure
Pan D Capsule Dosage
The dosage depends on several factors like age, weight, health condition, and any other medication being used, etc. So it is advised to use only after consulting with the doctor.
The general dose for an adult patient is one capsule per day preferably in the morning before breakfast. If the condition is severe your doctor may prescribe twice a day.
This medicine is not advised to use for longer durations unless prescribed by your doctor.
Pan D Capsule during Pregnancy
Pregnancy induces a surge of various hormones, which may lead to various imbalances in the body including frequent acid refluxes and gastric issues.
Must seek advice from your doctor before using this medicine while pregnant.
Precautions before taking Pan D Capsule
- Use Pan D Capsule only if prescribed by the physician.
- Do not consume alcohol while taking Pan D Capsule as it can increase the risk of stomach damage.
- It is recommended not to consume any alcohol at least for 3 days from the day of your last dose of this medicine.
- Take the full course of treatment as suggested by your doctor.
- Tell your doctor if you are using any other medicine
- Tell your doctor if you are suffering from any disease
- Do not take Pan D Capsule if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine
- Do not take Pan D Capsule after the expiry date stated on the package
- Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
Taking more than prescribed Pan D Capsule may cause harmful side effects. Consult your physician or pharmacist if you suffer any side effects.
If missed certain regular dose, take as earliest possible, and if it is nearing next dosage, then skip the missed dose and carry on with next regular dose. Never use extra dosage.
It is not recommended in pregnancy, but if have to use it then it is strongly recommended to use with proper advice from your Doctor to avoid any side effects.
Pan D Capsule is not known to cause any harm to the fetus, but should only be used after consulting with your physician.
Even though Pan D Capsule is safe to use during breastfeeding consult your physician before using Pan D Capsule.
Pan D Capsule – Drug Interactions
If you use other over the counter products or other drugs at the same time, the effects of the Pan D Capsule may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly.
