Myospaz Tablet manufactured by Win-Medicare. It belongs to the category of mild analgesic and muscle relaxant. It is one of the most commonly used painkiller medicine used to relieve pain and stiffness caused due to muscle strains, ligament sprains, Joint pain, Muscle spasm, muscle injuries, menstrual pain, Headache, Toothache, Cramping, Ear pain, pains during Fever, arthritis, pain post-surgery and other conditions in adults. However, this medicine is not an alternative for exercise, physiotherapy, or other treatments that your physician may recommend for your medical condition.

This Medicine is prescribed to relax certain muscles in your body and relieve the discomfort caused by acute painful muscle or bone conditions.

Myospaz Tablet composition and active ingredients

Myospaz tablet is a combinational drug and contains following drugs as active ingredients:

  • Chlorzoxazone 250 mg
  • Paracetamol 500 mg

Chlorzoxazone

Performs the following functions and helps to improve the condition of the patient:

  • At the level of the spinal cord and subcortical areas of the brain, it inhibits multisynaptic reflex arcs involved in producing and maintaining skeletal muscle spasm and increases pain threshold
  • Increases the blood flow to the skin causing heat loss and sweating.

Paracetamol

Paracetamol is an antipyretic (fever reducer) and analgesic, helps in relieving pains like headache, menstrual pain, toothache, ear pain etc.

Myospaz Tablet uses and benefits

Myospaz comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It usually is taken 3 or 4 times a day. Use this medicine exactly as directed by the physician. Ask your physician to explain anything you do not understand and follow all the directions on your prescription label carefully.

This drug is prescribed to treat the following conditions:

Muscle spasm

Myospaz Tablet used to treat muscle spasms which are caused by overuse of muscles and muscle fatigue, dehydration, and electrolyte abnormalities.

Joint pain

Myospaz Tablet is used to treat joint pain caused by arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Toothache

Myospaz Tablet is used to relieve toothpain and jaw pain that are caused by tooth decay.

Menstrual Cramps

Myospaz Tablet is used to relieve pain and cramping associated with the menstrual cycle in women.

Muscular Pain

Myospaz Tablet is used to relieve all types of muscular pains which are caused by strains, overstretching, tendon injuries etc.

Fever

Myospaz Tablet is used to provide temporary relief from pyrexia (fever) but it does not treat underlying cause of the fever.

Headache

Myospaz Tablet is also used to relieve migraine and acute headaches.

Back Ache

Myospaz Tablet also used to treat mild to severe back pain caused by muscle strain, arthritis, sciatica, herniated disc.

Myospaz Tablet – Side effects

In addition to its intended effect, Myospaz Tablet may produce some unwanted effects. In such cases, you should take immediate medical attention. Side effects mentioned here are not comprehensive. Please inform your physician if you experience adverse drug reactions:

Allergic Skin reaction

Myospaz Tablet can cause rashes, red spots on skin, hives, and itching.

Fever

Myospaz Tablet can cause low to moderate fever with or without chills.

Nausea or Vomiting

Myospaz Tablet can cause nausea and vomiting along with other symptoms like diarrhea abdominal, pain, dry mouth.

Renal Problems

Discoloration of urine along with a sudden decrease in amount of urine might occur while on this medication.

Anaemia

In some patients, these tablets can cause anemia-like symptoms.

Myospaz Tablet Contraindications

Myospaz Tablet contraindicated in following conditions:

Allergy

If you have a known allergy to Myospaz Tablet then it is not recommended.

Kidney Disease – Analgesic nephropathy

If you are suffering from impaired kidney function due to excessive usage of painkillers then Myospaz Tablet is not recommended.

Liver Disease

If you are suffering from any type of liver disorder then Myospaz Tablet is not recommended.

Myospaz Tablet Dosage

For relaxing muscles

Adults – 500 mg (milligrams) 3 or 4 times a day. Your physician may adjust your dose if needed.

Children –  Not recommended for the children below 12 years of age without pediatric consultation. Please follow the usage and dosage instruction as suggested by your doctor.

Myospaz Tablet – Precautions & How to Use

Myospaz tablet is over the counter medicine, to be taken as prescribed by the doctor. Before consuming Myospaz Tablet, tell your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. herbal supplements, vitamins, etc.), pre-existing diseases, allergies, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, liver diseases, kidney problems, upcoming surgery, etc.). You may be more susceptible to side effects if you are already suffering some types of health conditions. Follow the instructions from your doctor for proper usage, and dosage. Important counseling points are listed below.

  • History of peptic ulcers
  • Patients recovering from a surgery
  • Avoid driving and avoid operating heavy machinery while on the medication
  • Gastro-intestinal disorders
  • Severe hepatic impairment
  • Severe cardiac impairment

General warnings

Overdosage

Taking more than prescribed Myospaz Tablet may cause harmful side effects. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you find any side effects.

Missing dosage

If you miss the dose take as soon as possible, and if it is near to next dose, skip the missing dosage and continue the next dosage. Maintain regular timings. Do not take extra doses.

Pregnancy

Myospaz Tablet is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary and the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Myospaz Tablet is not known to cause any harm to the fetus, but should only be used after consultation with your physician.

Breastfeeding

Myospaz Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Before taking this medicine consult your doctor.
