How do Lasix works?

Lasix or furosemide is a diuretic. It removes excess water from the body by acting on the kidneys and increasing urine output. It is therefore used in states of excess fluid load like cirrhosis of the liver, renal failure, and congestive cardiac failure. It can cause electrolyte imbalance and hence should be used on doctor’s orders only.

Lasix works by helping your body get rid of excess salt and water. It does this by increasing the amount of urine your body makes. This helps lower your B.P as well as reduce swelling.
