Composition & Strength of Janumet Tablet
The active ingredients of Janumet tablet are Metformin and Sitagliptin. Janumet contains 500 mg Metformin and 50 mg Sitagliptin for oral use.
How Janumet tablet works?
Janumet tablet is a composition of two antidiabetic medicine; Metformin and Sitagliptin. Metformin is an oral antihyperglycemic agent. It decreases the blood glucose level by increasing the sensitivity of liver, muscle, fat and other tissues to the effect of insulin. Due to this increase, the sensitivity of tissues to insulin increases that leads to increased peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. Thus this process leads to a decrease in the blood sugar level.
Sitagliptin acts by increasing the level of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide(GIP) after a meal from the intestine. This results in increasing the production and release of insulin from the pancreas and causing the sugar level in the blood to decrease.
