Before using Grilinctus

You are advised to not use this syrup if you are allergic to it or if you are taking or have taken furazolidone, sodium oxybate or a monoamine oxidase inhibitor within the last 14 days. Before using this medicine, inform your health expert if you have heart problems, breathing problems, high blood pressure, glaucoma, seizures, liver disease, stomach problems, hyperthyroidism, or urination problems.

Grilinctus Syrup composition and active ingredients

It is manufactured and marketed by Franco-Indian Remedies. Grilinctus Syrup contains following drugs as active ingredients:

  • Ammonium Chloride
  • Chlorpheniramine Maleate
  • Dextromethorphan
  • Guaiphenesin

How does Grilinctus syrup work?

Grilinctus Syrup improves the patient condition by performing following activities:

  • Thinning the mucus in the air passages;
  • Increasing the excretion of extracellular electrolytes and water out of the body;
  • Decreasing activity on the part of the brain that causes coughing;
  • Blocking H1-receptor sites on tissues

Grilinctus Syrup Uses and Benefits

Grilinctus Syrup Side Effects

All medicines may cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or only have minor side effects. Consult your health expert if you notice any of these side effects or any other side effects bother you or do not go away:

  • Hypotension
  • Vomiting
  • Drowsiness
  • Feeling drowsy
  • Increased appetite
  • Feeling sick

Grilinctus Syrup – Contraindications

Grilinctus Syrup should not be used if you have the following ailments:

  • Allergic reactions
  • Breastfeeding
  • Breathing difficulty
  • Concomitant use with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor
  • Hypersensitivity
  • Metabolic alkalosis with loss of sodium bicarbonate

Grilinctus Syrup Dosage

Contact your doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. If you take too much of this, consult your physician or hospital immediately. Do not exceed the stated dose. Stop use and ask a health expert if your lasts for more than seven days, or comes back.

Take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take next dose. Do not take extra doses to make up the missed dose. It is not advisable to prescribe Grilinctus syrup to children below 2 years.

Precautions while using Grilinctus Syrup

Before taking Grilinctus syrup, tell your physician if you are allergic to this medicine, any other medications, or any of the ingredients in the Grilinctus syrup product you plan to use. Check the package label for a list of the ingredients. Tell your health expert about all the medicines, herbal supplements, and vitamins you are using, so that your physician can help you manage or prevent drug interactions.

Be sure to mention any of the following: other medications for colds, hay fever, or allergies; medications for anxiety, depression, or seizures; muscle relaxants; narcotic medications for pain; sedatives; sleeping pills; and tranquilizers.

Tell your physician  if you have or have ever had asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or other types of lung disease; glaucoma (a condition in which increased pressure in the eye can lead to gradual loss of vision); ulcers; diabetes; difficulty urinating (due to an enlarged prostate gland); heart disease; high blood pressure; seizures; or an overactive thyroid gland.

Inform your physician if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while taking Grilinctus syrup, call your physician. If you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the dentist that you are taking Grilinctus syrup.

You should know that this medication may make you drowsy. Don’t drive or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you. Ask your physician about the safe use of alcohol while you are taking this syrup. Alcohol can make the side effects of Grilinctus worse.

Check the labels on syrup (example; cough-and-cold products, diet aids) because they may contain ingredients that could affect your blood pressure/heart rate or cause drowsiness. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about the safe use of those products.

Grilinctus syrup – Drug interactions

If you use other over-the-counter drugs or products at the same time, the effects of this medicine may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Inform your physician about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that your doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. This medicine may interact with the following drugs and products:

  • Antipsychotics
  • Alcohol
  • Amiodarone
  • Haloperidol
  • Methadone
  • Cough and cold medicines
