How does Duphaston work?

The mechanism of action of Duphaston tablet is by reducing the growth of the endometrium. Dihydrogesterone is a synthetic derivative of progesterone. Naturally, progesterone acts on lining of uterus called endometrium. If conception occurs, it stops growth of endometrium and starts the secretion of hormones and other protein required to maintain a pregnancy. If not, levels of oestrogen and progesterone will reduce and the endometrium is shred (menstruation)

Lack of endogenous progesterone causes menstrual problems such as secondary amenorrhea and abnormal uterine bleeding. In such conditions, Duphaston helps reestablish a regular menstrual cycle. Duphaston helps in the treatment of infertility and spontaneous abortion by stimulating the endometrium to prepare for a pregnancy and protect an existing pregnancy

Duphaston acts on the endometrium in all its locations to stop the growth thereby reducing symptoms of endometriosis including pain and bleeding.
