Mechanism of action
It works by elevating the pain threshold so that only more intense pain is registered as such. It also tells the brain to cool off the body during fever. This medicine is manufactured and marketed in India by Glaxo SmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
How is the Crocin Advanced different from Crocin?
The company released a new version of Crocin Tablets named as Crocin Advance Tablet in the year 2011. The major difference of this medicine from its earlier version i.e. Crocin is its fast action in relieving from fever and Pains. There is a change in its ingredients as well. The new ingredients are Alginic acid and Calcium Carbonate which act as disintegrants.
What are disintegrants?
Disintegrants are agents that are added to the main ingredient of the medicine to make the drug dissolve rapidly in the stomach. When the medicine dissolves quickly in our stomach, it is absorbed more quickly into the blood and thereby shows its action faster.
What are the active ingredients in Crocin Advanced Tablet?
The active ingredients of Crocin Advanced Tablet which acts as pain reliever are:
- Paracetamol IP: 500mg
- Alginic acid
- Calcium carbonate
Crocin Advanced Tablet prescribed in flowing conditions:
Crocin Advanced Tablet is used to relieve mild to moderate joint pains in arthritis.
It is used to relieve migraine and acute headaches.
Crocin Advanced Tablet is used to provide temporary relief from pyrexia (fever) without treating the underlying cause.
4. Muscular Pain
It is used to relieve all types of muscular pains.
5. Post-Immunization Pyrexia (fever)
Crocin Advanced Tablet is used in the patient who gets pain and fever after vaccination.
6. Menstrual Cramps
It is used to treat pain and cramping associated with the menstrual cycle in women.
Crocin Advanced Tablet is used to relieve pain around the teeth and jaws that are usually caused by tooth decay.

2. Analgesic Nephropathy (Kidney Disease)
If you are suffering from impaired kidney function due to excessive usage of painkillers then Crocin Advanced tablet is not recommended.
3. Liver Disease
If you are suffering from any type of liver disorder then Crocin Advanced Tablet is not recommended.
Side effects of Crocin Advanced tablet:
In addition to its intended effect, Crocin Advanced Tablet can also produce some unwanted effects. In such cases, you should take immediate medical attention. This is not a comprehensive list of side effects. Please inform your doctor if you experience adverse drug reactions:
1. Allergic skin reaction
Crocin Advanced Tablet can cause rashes, red spots on skin, hives, and itching.
Crocin Advanced Tablet can cause low to moderate fever with or without chills.
3. Nausea or Vomiting
Crocin Advanced Tablet can cause nausea and vomiting along with other symptoms like diarrhea abdominal, pain, dry mouth.
4. Renal Problems
Discoloration of urine along with a sudden decrease in amount might be there while on this medication.
In some patients, these tablets can cause anemia-like symptoms.
6. Stevens-Johnson Syndrome
Stevens-Johnson syndrome is a very rare but very fatal skin allergic reaction. There is a possibility of its occurrence while taking Crocin Advanced Tablet. Immediate medical care must be taken in such situation.
Crocin Advanced Tablet can cause tiredness and weakness with pain and twitching of the muscle.

- Crocin Advanced is a very safe and well-tolerated medicine for short-term use
- Consuming high dose of Crocin Advanced can cause serious liver damage
- If you are suffering from liver disease, inform your doctor first. Your dose may need to be adjusted
- Avoid excess intake of alcohol while using Crocin Advanced tablets. Together they can affect your liver
- If you have taken an overdose of Crocin Advanced Immediately inform your doctor or contact a hospital emergency and you are feeling unwell
Crocin Advanced Tablet – Precautions & How to Use:
Before using Crocin Advanced Tablet, inform your doctor if you are taking medications for any kind of health problems, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). If you have some health problems, you are more likely to get the side-effects of the drug. Take this tablet as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Dosage is based on your condition and symptoms. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
Taking more than prescribed dose may cause harmful side effects. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you find any side effects. These tablets are available in the market in various dosage forms. Read the label carefully before taking this medicine to avoid overdosage.
If you missed any dose take sooner possible, and if it is near to next nearing dose, skip the missing dosage and continue the regular dosage. Don’t take extra doses.
- Risk of stomach bleeding might increase if this drug is consumed along with alcohol. In general mixing, any drug with alcohol is not a good choice.
- Maybe unsafe to use during pregnancy consult your doctor before taking this drug
- Is safe to use during lactation but it’s important to consult your doctor
- Should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor before consuming this medication
- Should be used with caution in patients with renal disease. Dose adjustment of Combiflam may be needed. Please consult your doctor before taking medication
