Calpol Tablet

Calpol tablet is a pain reliever (analgesic) and fever reducer (antipyretic). It thus offers relief from several problems like headache, toothache, arthritis, back pain, other types of small injuries and menstrual cramps. Calpol Tablet contains Paracetamol as active ingredient. Calpol tablet blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that is responsible for pain and fever. This medication is suitable for adults as well as children who are Six months and above.

Calpol tablet uses:

Calpol Tablet is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and their symptoms:

Fever

Calpol widely prescribed to relieve pyrexia (fever) in person of all ages. It is prescribed in children if temperature is greater than 38. 5 Celsius or 101.3 Fahrenheit.

Headache

Calpol is also used to relieve migraine in some countries.

Muscle Pain

Calpol Tablet is used to relieve mild to moderate muscle pains.

Pain

Calpol also prescribed to relieve mild to moderate pain.

Osteoarthritis

This tablet is also used to treat arthritis pain of knee, hand or hips.

Low Back Pain

It is first-line treatment of low back pain.

Toothache

Calpol is also used in pain of tooth.

Menstrual Period Pain

Calpol Tablet is used to relieve pain and cramping associated with menstrual cycle in women.

Cold / Flu Pain

This tablet is also prescribed with Anti-Cold medicine to relieve Cold / Flu Pain.

Calpol tablet contraindicated in following conditions:

Allergy

Avoid if you have allergy to Calpol tablet or other NSAIDs

Asthma

Calpol tablet is contraindicated if you are diagnosed with asthma or other respiratory complications.

Bleeding

If you are suffering from any bleeding disorder Calpol tablet is not recommended for you. It could cause severe swelling and bleed in the intestines, stomach, and anus.

Calpol Tablet – Side-effects

When this medicine is taken under the direction of a doctor or under recommendation it is extremely safe medicine. Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking Calpol:

Calpol Tablet – Precautions & How to Use

Before using this Tablet, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins and other herbal supplements), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take this tablet as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Dosage is based on your condition and symptoms. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Important counseling points are listed below.

  • Avoid using it if allergic to Calpol or paracetamol
  • Do not take it if you consume alcoholic beverages every day
  • Avoid taking alcohol or salicylates to prevent bleeding
  • Consult your doctor if you develop blurred vision, ringing or roaring in ears
  • Consult your doctor if you have systemic lupus erythematosus
  • Inform your doctor if you have bruising or bleeding

Over dosage

Taking more than prescribed Calpol tablet may cause harmful side effects. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you find any side effects. Calpol tablet available in the market in various dosage forms. Read the label carefully before taking this medicine to avoid overdosage.

Missing dosage

If you miss the dosage take as soon as possible, and if it is near to next dose, skip the missing dosage continue the regular dosage. Do not take extra doses.

Pregnancy

Calpol tablet is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary and the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. It is not known to cause any harm to the fetus, but should only be used after consultation with your doctor.

Breast-feeding

Calpol tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Before taking this medicine consult your doctor.
