  • Clioquinol (Iodochlorhydroxyquin): 3 % w/w

Betnovate C skin cream belongs to a group of drugs called corticosteroids or so-called steroids and it is manufactured by Glaxo SmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Well this cream is mostly used when there is infection may be inflammation. When used this in the affected area, the inflammation is reduced and also the itchiness and the redness in those skin part. Betnovate C is used to treat various inflammatory skin conditions and fungal infections, including dermatitis, psoriasis, and eczema.

Betnovate C is used to help reduce the redness and itchiness of certain skin problems.

It belongs to the corticosteroids group of medicines.

Betamethasone and Clioquinol are the two key ingredients in this medicine.

Betamethasone acts on reducing swelling and irritation and Clioquinol fights bacterial and fungal infections of the skin.

Side effects of Betnovate C

The following is a list of possible side-effects that may occur from all constituting ingredients of Betnovate C. Below mentioned side effects are possible but do not always occur. The quantity and frequency of application of Betnovate C for the particular skin condition per day have to be as per Doctor’s prescription. Generally, it is advised to be used 2 or 3 times a day. Please follow your dermatologist’s instructions before applying this cream.

Precautions while using Betnovate C

Before using Betnovate C, Tell your dermatologist about all the medicines you take including prescription and non-prescription medicines, herbal supplements, and vitamins. Especially tell your physician if you take.

  • Use Betnovate C cream for external use only
  • Avoid contact with eyes and mouth
  • Avoid inhaling and swallowing

Is it safe to use Betnovate C if I am pregnant?

No, it is not safe to use Betnovate C when you are pregnant. Consult with your dermatologist along with your gynecologist if a need arises to use this cream. Please do not self-medicate with cream.

Is it safe to use Betnovate C if I am breastfeeding?

No, it is not safe to use Betnovate C if you are breastfeeding, as there is a chance of it being inhaled or swallowed by the baby. This can not only be harmful but also dangerous for the baby. Please consult with your doctor or dermatologist if a need arises to use Betnovate C.

Can Betnovate C use for children and infants?

Yes, if prescribed by a qualified doctor or dermatologist, Betnovate C can be used for children of age more than Two years only. Please consult with the dermatologist regarding the quantity, duration of application and frequency of this cream. But, it is strictly not to be used for children under the age of Two years and infants.

Betnovate C – Drug Interactions

Betnovate C is not known to affect other medicines. However, as with all drugs, it is important to tell your dermatologist what drugs you are already using, including those bought without a prescription and herbal medicines, before you start treatment with this cream. Similarly, check with your dermatologist before using any new drugs or creams while using this one, to make sure that the combination is safe.

If you are using other creams on the same area of skin it is recommended that you leave several minutes between applying each product. This procedure will allow each ingredient time to be absorbed and avoid them mixing on the skin.

If you apply skin moisturizers shortly before or after applying Betnovate C can dilute the corticosteroid and potentially make it less effective. Try to apply your moisturizers 30 minutes before applying Betnovate C, or at a different time of day.

  1. I used betnovet c 2year,,when I left to use it my skin become itching,rashes,nettle rashes,tight,,,few days ago I went to dr. And she give me tacroz ointment,,when I was used this 1night my skin is burning,itching..3days I saffer this torture,,plz help me

    • The symptoms you mentioned are very common side effects on Betnovet C and Tacroz. If these medications are showing side effects on your skin then you must immediately stop using them. Consult your doctor and do patch testing (applying ointment on a small area to check if you are not allergic to the ointment) before applying any new ointment directly on your skin to avoid allergies and rashes in future.
